Sport Manitoba announced 11 sports that will be part of the 2020 Power Smart Manitoba Summer Games. The sports line-up includes: athletics, baseball, male and female basketball, cycling, golf, sailing, male and female soccer, softball, swimming, triathlon and male and female indoor volleyball. The host site selection process will now begin, with the successful Host Community being named by January, 2018.

Sport Manitoba will be hosting Regional Athlete Testing Combines in the west and south, taking place in Winkler on April 28 and in Brandon on April 29. The combines offer baseline testing to athletes of any level and sport, an information session for parents, coaches and managers, and an opportunity for coaches to have full team testing done by our Sport Performance Experts. Starting on June 23, 2017, the relay will journey to 11 communities throughout Manitoba beginning in Steinbach and ending in Winnipeg on July 26, 2017. The 2021 Canada Summer Games bid process began 14 months ago and included the communities of Waterloo, Ottawa, Niagara and Sudbury. On March 30, 2017, the Canada Games Council announced the successful bid from the Niagara region. Moving forward, the Niagara region will work with the Canada Games Council to begin their transition from Bid Committee to Host Society as they prepare to welcome the country in 2021.
