Thompson Awarded 2018 Power Smart Manitoba Games After Virden Withdraws

The City of Thompson will host the 2018 Power Smart Manitoba Winter Games. The Games will be held in early March 2018 involving up to 1,800 participants and 1,000 volunteers. On July 15, 2016 Sport Manitoba announced a successful bid from the Town of Virden and RMs of Pipestone, Woodsworth-Wallace, and Sifton, to be the Host Community for the 2018 Power Smart Manitoba Winter Games. Virden withdrew December 12 citing a lack of volunteers. Thompson was awarded the Games on January 17, 2017.
