Another Manitoba startup wins Canada's Most Promising Startup of the Year!

Portray Adverting is the winner of the Most Promising Startup of the Year Award, presented by KPMG at the annual National Angel Capital Organization's National Angel Summit, the second year in a row that a Winnipeg-based startup has won the prestigious award – Permission Click did it in 2014.

Portray is an advertising company founded by Kyle Boult and Greg Lipshitz (centre of the above photo). They have developed a proprietary transparent cafeteria food tray that that allows retailers, brands and organizations to insert relevant communications and use embedded technology to push targeted messages to consumers.

Prior to 2014, there had never even been a Manitoba startup in the competition. This second win in as many years is definitely unprecedented.

"You could say there was a buzz about Manitoba amongst the judges and audience, which included some 350 investors," said Yuri Navarro, executive director of NACO. "Whatever Innovate Manitoba is doing, it is clearly working."
